Kenny was born and raised in Chicago, IL where his father was a prominent jazz drummer. As a toddler, his father placed him on the drummer’s throne sharing his skills through his favorite beats and techniques. Growing up surrounded by his father’s musical influence was the core that infused drumming into his soul.
Jazz drummers such as Gene Krupa, Louis Bellson and Buddy Rich became a great childhood influence. Kenny’s performance roots began in his early years winning a middle school talent show with his “garage band.” Later, emulating rock drummers such as Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones, Ringo Starr of the Beatles, as well as Steve Ferrone of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers became a passion that contributed to his drumming style.
Today, Kenny hits the stage drumming with TTW, Radio Nowhere Band, Sage Fire Band, and Flight Risk with his own crossover style that allows him to accommodate a wide variety of musical genres. Kenny’s prime focuses as a performance drummer are to enjoy the music, be reliable, and keep consistent timing as that of a Rolex watch.
